We provide high quality education and the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research, all in a peaceful and safe environment.Yamaguchi University traces its origin to Yamaguchi Kodo, founded in 1815 by Ueda Hoyo, a feudal clansman of the Choshu Province. Since then, over its 200-year history, the educational institute has evolved into a core university with nine undergraduate faculties and eight graduate schools, enrolling more than 10,000 students. Guided by the motto “A Forum for Wisdom – Discover. Grow. Create.” Yamaguchi University not only creates knowledge and imparts it to the world but also contributes to regional development as an intellectual hub for the local communities.

Type of Scholarship Details
Japanese Government (MEXT: Monbukagakusho) Scholarship

For undergraduate students, applicants must plan to be in their fourth year of university before turning 26 years old. Applicants with majors in medical or veterinary science must plan to be in their sixth year before turning 28 years old. For Graduate students, applicants must be less than 35 years old. Yamaguchi University’s Scholarships for Privately Financed International Undergraduate Students

Privately financed students are eligible after the entrance of Yamaguchi University. Amount per month is JPY 45,000. Application guideline is open to students in July every year.

Exchange Program

International students from more than 30 countries are studying at Yamaguchi University. One quarter of them are exchange students. We provide our exchange students with all levels of Japanese classes, countless ways to interact with and experience Japanese culture, and a wide variety of academic opportunities. Q1. What is the requirement for undergraduate admissions?

A1. Requiements vary in each faculties, please check out the admission guidelines through the website (https://www.yamaguchi-u.ac.jp/nyushi/yoko/index.html), or contact admissions office.

Q2. Is it possible to take entrance exam outside Japan?

A2. Undergraduate students in Faculty of Economics and Engineering can be accepted without taking exams inside Japan, however, you need to take English Test and EJU in your country for applying.
