Keio University
Keio University is one of Japan’s most prestigious universities. Founded in 1858, the university has a rich history of academic excellence, with its founder Yukichi Fukuzawa, believing it was vital to modernize Japan’s education for future leaders.
With 6 major campuses, 10 undergraduate faculties, 14 graduate schools, over 33,400 students, and more than 390,000 alumni, Keio University is famed for its humanities and social sciences research, and for its hospital providing advanced medical care. Keio students have found success in every field, with multiple prime ministers, scientists, athletes, musicians, doctors, and others calling the university home. Keio’s central location in Tokyo also avails students to its deep culture and history.
In 2022, Keio University housed a flourishing community of nearly 2,000 international students from more than 85 countries. It offers over 23 programs and 940 courses in English. As Keio’s 5th campus, Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) opened in 1990 to educate students to resolve complex social issues by integrating the fields of technology, science, design, business, innovation, international relations, and policy. They offer an English-based bachelor’s degree program called “GIGA Program.”

A2. The GIGA Program is a 4-year undergraduate degree program entirely taught in English at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC). It is offered by the Faculty of Policy Management and the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, which take an interdisciplinary approach. Full-ride scholarships are available exclusively for GIGA international students before enrollment.
