The International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA) at Yamanashi Gakuin University is a four- year liberal arts college where the language of instruction is English. iCLA students choose from a wide array of courses as part of our innovative Bachelor of International Liberal Arts degree program. iCLA offers majors in Global Business and Economics, Political Science, Interdisciplinary Arts, and Japan Studies with electives offered in subject areas such as Data Science, Psychology and Sociology, Quantitative Reasoning and Natural Science, and Japanese Language.

A1. No, all our courses are taught in English, so you do not need to have any Japanese ability to apply or to enroll. We teach Japanese as part of the degree, you can start from elementary level and take all the courses up to business level.
A2. Our applications are completely online. You can apply through https://apply.icla.ygu.ac.jp/. As part of the process, you can also apply for our scholarships if you wish to.
A3. Yes, we have on-campus guaranteed accommodation for all new entrants. There is also a cafeteria with a meal plan. It is mandatory to live in the dormitory for at least the first year.
A4. Yes, we offer tuition waiver scholarships at four tiers, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. If awarded, it will cover the full four years of studies.
A5. Yes, international students can work part-time up to 28 hours per week. We have a lot of students working at nearby restaurants, convenience stores, supermarkets etc.

All students live on-campus for their first year to experience more fully a rich student life. Both international students and Japanese students reside together, so students can have an opportunity to make friends from all parts of the world. Connected to the iCLA building, our student accommodation is safe and convenient. Each student has an individual room with common facilities like mini kitchen, shower rooms, and toilets and common space.
On the first floor of the iCLA building, we have a cafeteria with a meal plan. Meals are served three times a day on weekdays during the semester. The menu changes every day and both Japanese and Western-style foods are served. There is also a vegan option every meal.
